Aimee was born October 23, 1996 with an ASD, VSD, and an Interupted Aortic Arch. She was born in Hawaii and transferred to San Diego Childrens Hospital to have her corrective surgery. She was 5 days old when she had her surgery and suffered severe seizures for two weeks after surgery. She had to have a pacemaker put in at 21 days old because of complete heart block from the surgery. After 55 days in the hospital we were able to return to our family in Hawaii. Aimee has DiGeorges syndrome and is severely delayed. She is now almost six and will be attending Kindergarten in the fall. Even though Aimee is not like other children she has a way of making us laugh on a daily basis. We hope that someday she will be able to talk and lead a somewhat normal life - until then though we will always be there for her and love her just the way she is because she is Aimee.
