Quilt # 5 was the first quilt I hosted. I chose to host this quilt
because it had 5 kids from Washington state on the quilt. The family
gathered around as we laid the quilt on top of a clean blanket...just
amazing! It brought tears as I recognized so many names from email groups
and personal emails that I had received. Each block has its own story and
knowing some of the stories behind the blocks just makes it so amazing.
It wasn't until summer of this year that I was surprised by the CHD Awareness Quilt Project, when quilt #1, with David's block, was sent to me. Another moment of awe and wonder as I recognized names on the quilt...some ot them I had not heard from in a long time. I even showed the quilt to a neighbor who said his sister is into quilting. He was surprised and said "I have never seen a quilt like that before."
Being a volunteer for the CHD Awareness Quilt Project, I am continually amazed at the beauty in each quilt. Not so much just the look of the quilt, but the beauty that comes from each person represented.
