Our daughter Kassidy was born May 2, 2001 in our local hospital. She weighed a healthy 6 lbs. and 9 oz. The day that she was to be discharged a heart murmur was detected. She was sent by ambulance to the next larger hospital. It was determined that her heart was on the right side of her chest, but the reason for the murmur was still unsolved. At 3:00a.m. the next morning she was airlifted to the Arkansas Children's Hospital. She was soon diagnosed with dextrocardia, corrected transposition of the great arteries, pulmonary and sub pulmonary stenosis, an ASD and a large VSD.

I can still remember the pain we felt in our hearts. We turned to God for the strength that we simply did not have. Kassidy proved that she could gain weight and showed no signs of heart failure. We were sent home a few short days later. We are told that Kassidy has a "balanced" heart. She is tolerating the condition very well. We have not had any surgeries and she is not on any medications. In the near future, she will have some type of intervention, but we still aren't sure which road we will have to take. In the meantime, we are enjoying this amazing child that God has given us. Kassidy is a beautiful bright eyed baby that adores her big sister. We know that we have a long road ahead of us, but we try to focus on the joy we have this given moment. Kassidy is living proof of God's amazing grace.
