by Lacy Chenoweth
Hi! My name is Lacy RF Chenoweth. I am a twenty-three year old young
man born with a congenital heart defect known as Tetralolgy of Faillot
(ToF).
My heart defect was not discovered until I was 13 months old. I had the first of eight open-heart surgeries shortly after the doctors diagnosis.
In 1995 two valves were replaced with a homograph and pig but they both started leaking about two weeks later. I was put on the heart transplant list and sent to Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland for a second opinion. Doctor "Duke" Cameron said he could give me metal valves so I wouldn't have to have a transplant right away. I still have my own heart!
I continue to have various heart related issues. I now have a defibrillating pacemaker which was placed on November 18, 1999. It was a new experience for me and my family learning about this pacemaker and what happens when it "fires".
If you want to contact me my email is shockdoc2@aol.com.
