When I heard about this wonderful project, I knew that I had to be a part of it. And now I'm honored to say that my son, Logan, has a beautiful quilt square to honor his brief but valiant life.
It is a tribute to him, stitched with love, and so beautifully fitting with the angel and the rainbow. The rainbow is a special sign for me. Some might think this is foolish, but I have seen so many of the most beautiful rainbows (usually perfect double rainbow's - and often during weather that's not conducive to rainbow's) at such times that my heart was heavy with grief, at times when I was on my way to meet fellow "heart parents" and when I had to come face to face with the thing I wanted so badly, but didn't have - a surviving "heart baby", at times when I was promoting awareness for CHD or meeting with my fellow bereaved parents, these times, when I so desperately needed the strength and courage that Logan brought to my life, I saw his rainbow's.
Logan Gene Vaught came into this world on Dec. 7, 1998 and he faced a struggle that no child should have to face. But he fought valiantly to share a mere 2 days with us. He fought courageously to bring unconditional love, strength, and courage into our lives. He taught us more in the short time he was with us, than can explained with mere words. My little hero is commemorated in this beautiful quilt project, along with other "heart angels" and survivors and I know that with each loving stitch that goes into these quilts, a life and a heart will be touched with love.
Special thanks to J.D. and Nancy McCain, for making Logan's precious square and for reaching out to me during those first weeks after I lost Logan, and for keeping in touch during these 4 years since. I am so very proud to have Logan's name among so many of his fellow heart hero's!
